Recently, my mom sent me a box of artifacts from my years in elementary school. Old art projects, writing assignments, and other ephemera; some of which I remembered (my Young Authors book, The Pool Players!), and others of which I have no idea (for the life of me, I do not remember ever having a pet mouse). My daughter and I spent an evening delightfully rummaging through them.

There was one in particular that stuck out to me, though:

"When I grow up, I'm going to be a exsplorer."

It was one of those moments where an echo of the past returns to you. It had been 30 years since I wrote that, yet in many ways that's exactly what I've grown up to be. Maybe not in the sense I had in mind back then - I certainly haven't been traveling the world looking for dinosaurs - but the only semblance of a career that I've had is one of exploring, letting curiosity lead the way from one endeavor to another.

Hence this latest creative project: building a storehouse - a thesaurus - for the things I make, here at thephilbritton.com. A digital scrapbook of sorts. There will be writing, printmaking, letterpress, and who knows what else.

Exploring. Looking for dinosaurs and finding birds.

This newsletter will go out every so often with an update about what I've got goin' on and where I'm heading next. If that sounds interesting, I'd love to have you along for the journey.

See you out there.

P.S. In case you're wondering, I didn't end up shaving my head that September 15th. But maybe this September 15th...
